Natural Resources & Environmental Engineering

As this class introduces us to alternative engineering technologies that can be used at home in our countries more precisely in rural, and underdeveloped communities, and countries to ameliorate environmental conditions, Public health, and we also learn how to face many other challenges.  We do a lot of trips, going to many different sites to learn about what some organizations, and people are doing. We saw, and learned about many works that are related to our field of study, and also we always have a guess speaker to share experiences, and teach us about many different topics that are mostly focus on sustainable practices using local materials, and effective engineering strategies.

Composting at Troutdale, Oregon

Last week we had an opportunity to hear one of our famous science teachers in campus, Mr. Bill H. Becker to talk about composting, which in my group for our engineered project; we are working on building a Composting Bin, and writing a report about how important it is for our neighborhood specially the rural, and underdeveloped area though the world. After Mr. Bill’s workshop in class, we went to visit a huge place in Troutdale Oregon, where they make compost with some specific waste materials mostly organic to sale to farmers, organizations etc. and then our last visit were to the McMenamins Historic Hotel to learn and see how they use compost in their organic gardens.
