Importance of drawing

Image
Have you ever draw something that you have in your mind? Drawing is something innate in me, and while I was growing up I learn how important that it should be in someone’s life. In this page, I am going to discuss positive aspect of drawing base on my own experience of using it to express feelings, send messages and relieve stress. Drawing has great value that express strong feeling. I use drawing to describe my objectives and express my emotions by drawing things that are related to my short and long term goal in college. When I was in the US, in my bedroom there were a lot of pictures on the wall. They were just like the sing light in the streets there roles were to remind me why I was in the USA. I also used drawing to illustrate my journals. I drew Images which appropriate to my writings especially for English class in order to memorize them. Drawing can be interpreted in different ways and use to transmit messages. I draw pictures about me which can help people to unde...

Composting Bin Project//

Image
Do you love food, but hate wasting it?  Would you like to reduce waste in a simple and beneficial way? After my experiences and skills gained in my Sustainable Engineering Class and group projects, I now, have a better answer. From left to right Roberto, Marta y Louis Composting is an amazing process. Instead of flowing all your organic waste away with the toxic or, inorganic trashes, all of your organic waste such as; banana peels, coffee grounds, tea bags, egg cartons, and other scraps, here is what you can simply do whit them, put them into your compost bin. In just three month time, they shall be transformed into something you really wanted: rich, dark, organic fertilizer for you plants, or “Black Gold” according to my Science teacher, Bill Becker. In our community a Compost Bin can be very useful especially in the rural area  farmers  can use it, and it can also be used at home so, you can help embellish our world by turning trash, th...

Natural Resources & Environmental Engineering

As this class introduces us to alternative engineering technologies that can be used at home in our countries more precisely in rural, and underdeveloped communities, and countries to ameliorate environmental conditions, Public health, and we also learn how to face many other challenges.  We do a lot of trips, going to many different sites to learn about what some organizations, and people are doing. We saw, and learned about many works that are related to our field of study, and also we always have a guess speaker to share experiences, and teach us about many different topics that are mostly focus on sustainable practices using local materials, and effective engineering strategies.  Composting at Troutdale, Oregon        Last week we had an opportunity to hear one of our famous science teachers in campus, Mr. Bill H. Becker to talk about composting, which in my group for our engineered project; we are working on building a Composting ...

ETX36— Sustainable Engineering

Spring 2015 Instructor: Teresa Koper Our meeting last Tuesday (the 14 th of April) during Angela D. Goldsmith and Daniel Phipps visited our class Sustainable engineering at Mount Hood Community college, has been meaningful to me and very satisfactory. Their instructions, advice and different approach in their presentations greatly affected me. Angela D. Goldsmith where talking about permaculture. Permaculture ethics such as care of the earth, people, and distribution of goods that are surplus to our needs etc. based on what she talked about she believes that “food forest is one way to fight desertification”. She uses some good images to illustrate and clarify her ideas and I had an opportunity with my classmate, my teacher and her to visit one of the projects that she is undertaking after class. That allows us to understand and see what she is doing, it was really nice outside.  We had a great speaker a famous guy, named Daniel Phipps who has his charcoal project, ...

Let us protect and conserve our natural resources

Image
Natural resources are the raw materials, such as plants, water, soil, rocks etc. these resources are used by humans or other living species, to meet their needs. It is our duty to protect and enhance our environment. My community named Pétion-Ville it is mostly mountainous and it was very well known for its beauty and freshness because it was green throughout its extent.  Pétion-Ville But nowadays due to anthropogenic factors it becomes increasingly warm. If simply, we continue to clear cutting without replanting that will increases those significant issues in the years to come, such as erosion, drought, heat effect, declining economy and the community will become vulnerable, sensitive and exposed to natural disasters and what is worse it can turn against the lives of people living in the community. To avoid this sad situation we must build our houses a correct way. Do not cut or remove trees in bad conditions especially, near the aquifers or sources of water, mo...
